On Tuesday 22nd April, the Education Executive at North Ayrshire Council decided to uphold the Education Department’s recommendation to amalgamate Towerlands, Broomlands and Fencedyke Primary Schools, which would result in Towerlands closing in August 2009.
Although this news is disheartening, the decision is NOT final and the fight is NOT over yet!!! We, the Parent Council, are confident that we can have the decision overturned at the Full Council meeting on Tuesday 29th April 2008 @ 2pm. The Parent Council will be providing free transport, which will leave from Towerlands at 1:15pm and will return to the school at the end of the meeting (approximately 3:30pm).
We may be down, but we’re NOT out !!!
Children are allowed into the Council Chambers, so can attend with parents/carers if you want them to come along. Please remember this meeting is a formal affair and as such, children who attend with parents/carers will be required to remain seated and as quiet as possible at all times for the duration of the meeting.
Parents should be aware that taking their child out of school will result in an unauthorised absence, but this is your LAST CHANCE TO SAVE TOWERLANDS, and we hope you will attend with, or without, your child(ren) to support the school when we need you most.
If you are attending or need free transport, please contact us (before Tuesday 29th) by email, or telephone, to let us know:
Tel: 01294 234 764 (Trisha) or 01294 232 158 (Chris) or 01294 213 727 (Mary-Ann)

COME ALONG AND HELP SAVE TOWERLANDS PRIMARY SCHOOL
The usual Council insurance will not cover adults or children for the duration of the ‘trip’ as it is not an educational event organised by the school. It is each parent’s own responsibility to look after their own child(ren) and must inform the school if their child will be absent.
